Only two matches survived Saturday’s deluge in the North Devon Gazette Football League.
Despite that, they still yielded 13 goals between them.
In the Premier Division, Torridgeside took advantage of their competitors being out of action and extended their lead at the top of the table to six points.
Kyle Paine netted twice, while Marc Bettiss and Nathan Walter were also on target in a 4-1 win over North Molton. Sam Phillips scored in vain for the Stags.
The win puts Torridgeside, who were due to play again at Bideford CAFC last night (Tuesday), six points ahead of second-placed Braunton.
Weather permitting, Braunton are scheduled to play Landkey Town on Sunday.
Third-placed Boca Seniors and fourth-placed Torrington will also hope the rain stays away to give them a chance to claw back a few points at the weekend.
The only other match to go ahead last weekend was played at Merton, where the hosts’ reserves were hammered 7-1 by Georgeham and Croyde Reserves.
Matthew Chubb was in the mood for the visitors, helping himself to a hat-trick.
Dylan Pearce scored a brace, and there were singles for Ronan Butters and Ben Dooley.
It was only Georgeham’s third win of the season, lifting them to eighth.
No games at all went ahead in the Senior Division, where Hartland still lead the way by a single point from Braunton Reserves.
The top two are scheduled to meet at Lobb Field this Saturday.
It was the same story in Intermediate One.
No matches were played, meaning Braunton Thirds stayed top for another week.
They’re seven points clear of Sporting Barum, although they have played five more games and Barum are still yet to drop any points this term.
