MERTON maintained their unbeaten league in North Devon Intermediate One record and moved to the top of Intermediate One with a 4-2 win at home to Sporting Barum.
Craig McConnachie led the way with a hat-trick and Nathan Delaune scored the other.
Northam Lions reserves came through a roller-coaster ride at hopme to Braunton 3rds to eventually win comfortably 5-2.
After setting up a 2-0 lead at half-time the lions slipped back to 3-2 before pulling away again. Their goals came from Cosmo Ayres (2), Trevor May, Carl Roberts and Craig Russell.

FREMINGTON Reserves served warning that they are now getting into their stride, with players returning from first team duty to enable them to field a full strength side – and celebrating with an 11-2 Intermediate Two drubbing of Georgeham and Croyde Reserves.
Keith McClure top scored with five, including one amazing backheel flick, while Gary Grant was not far behind on four. Dean Waite and Sean Passmore added the others.
They did not have it all their own way, however. Leading 3-0 at the break, they had keeper Jamie Powe to thank for saving two goalbound Georgeham shots that would have made a big difference.
But the game was made safe in an amazing 15 minutes of the second half in which they netted five times.
Torridgeside Resserves maintained their unbeaten record and the top spot with a 6-1 result at home to Anchor Chiefs.
The leaders were 3-0 up at the break and went 6-0 ahead before Mark Tattersall blasted a shot from the half-way line which the keeper could only help into his own net for a spectacular consolation goal.
Chittlehampton Reserves had young Freddie Podmore to thank for a 1-0 win away to South Molton Reserves.
Freddie,17, is one of five young players to join Chittle from West Buckland School and this was his first competitive adult game. The school seems a veritable goldmine for the club after fellow student Jamie O’Neil scored twice last week.
His winning goal came in the 82nd minute of a closely-contested game in which South Molton keeper Steve Slee earlier saved a penalty.
