RYAN West scored a hat-trick as league leaders Northam lions showed swagger and snarl in a 7-0 win at home to struggling Torrington Reserves on Saturday. Brian Levien scored two and there were singles for Gavin Souch and Lee Evans as the Lions opened up a six-point gap over second-placed Pilton Academicals, who have played two games less. South Molton missed a number of good chances to take the lead in the first half against Shebbear United at Old Alswear Road. But it was the visitors Martin Davey who opened the scoring straight after half-time before doubling the lead 10 minutes later. The Images had a player sent off for denying a goal-bound Shebby striker but despite being a man down, Jamie Giffard pulled a goal back on 78 minutes. United added a third through man-of-the-match James Vanstone two minutes later. Hallum Cook scored the consolation goals for Hartland in a 6-2 defeat at home to Chittlehampton and Barnstaple AAC Reserves overcame a strong first half performance by Combe Martin Reserves to finish the game 5-2. Games between North Molton Reserves and Bratton Fleming and Pilton Academicals and Woolsery were postponed due to waterlogged pitches.
