Barnstaple Town 4-2 Wells City
BARNSTAPLE Town battled back from two goals down to bag a crucial three points on Tuesday night.
Town were given a scare by visitors Wells City, going two – nil down inside of half an hour as the home side struggled to get going.
But with almost 100 voices behind them, Barnstaple found another gear and were able to get one back on 40 minutes through Jack Jenkins.
Moments later, Town were on terms as Dave Pearse slotted in to make it 2-2 just before half time.
The home side had the momentum in the second half, and after a number of near misses hit the post through Jenkins.
And the pressure told on the hour mark, as midfield man Lee Francis popped up to glance in a header and put Barnstaple in front for the first time on the night.
And they weren’t finished there, as the once again outstanding Billy Tucker added a fourth with 10 minutes to play to seal what looked at one stage to be an unlikely victory.
Barnstaple stay sixth after the win, but are now just eight points off third placed Welton Rovers with four games in hand on them.
Town will hope to extend their recent good form when they travel to Calne Town on Saturday.
