The North Devon Football League’s annual curtain-raiser takes place on Saturday.

Ilfracombe Town and Park United will face each other in the North Devon Football League's annual curtain-raiser on Saturday.

The two sides will be playing for the Albert Beer Memorial Shield at Appledore's Marshford ground, with kick-off at 6.30pm.

Proceeds from the match between last year's North Devon Premier champions and the Brayford Cup winners go to the North Devon Football League's benevolent fund to assist players who have been injured playing in the league.

It could well be the only time the two sides meet each other this season, following Ilfracombe's promotion to the South West Peninsula League.

Park United and the rest of the North Devon Football League clubs get their season underway on August 19.

The fixture honours Albert Beer, a former league president who died in 2010.

Entry is £3 for adults and £1 for U16s.

The fixture comes the day after Ilfracombe play Buckland Athletic Reserves in the Throgmorton Champions Cup final.
