Liam Dart and Jackson Birch have been announced as the new coaching team at Torrington.
Dart will manage the South West Premier East side after making the switch from Holsworthy after six years coaching the Magpies, with Birch joining him as his assistant.
A statement from the Greens said: “We’re absolutely delighted to announce that Liam Dart is our new first team manager, along with his assistant Jackson Birch, and we offer them a very warm welcome into our family.
“Liam’s ambition and drive clearly matches those of the club, as we aim to push Torrington back up through the leagues over the forthcoming seasons.
“Our aim is a clear one, to create and implement a community based club, which progresses year on year.
“These are very exciting times at the club, and we very much look forward to watching all the new and old players bonding to create something very special.”
Torrington struggled to find their feet last season as they moved up two divisions into the Premier East.
When the season was brought to a halt and subsequently cancelled in March, the Greens were in a relegation battle, with striker Will Nicholls managing the side after Neil Batty’s departure at the turn of the year.
Dart said he had thoroughly enjoyed his time at Holsworthy and said the decision was one of the hardest he had had to make in football.
He said: “Management is a thankless task and pretty lonely after a defeat or a bad loss but I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Holsworthy particularly with all the players, there have been many highs.
“It is the right decision to take on a new challenge now.
“I didn’t think this day would come, certainly not yet and this has been the hardest decision I have ever had to make in football.
“Leaving Holsworthy having given the past six years my all will be hard but to be true to myself and in order to continue to challenge, the time is right.”
