Combe Martin cup win for village side
IT’S been a long time coming, but Hartland finally celebrated their first win for a year as they knocked South Molton out of the Combe Martin Cup with a 3-0 win on Saturday.
Jack Coleman scored twice and Hallum Cook was also on target as the hosts banished a miserable run of defeats stretching all the way back to October 31, 2009.
League leaders Northam Lions beat Shamwickshire Reserves 2-0 in the Torridge derby at Borough Farm. Brian Levien and Ryan West were both on target for the Lions.
Second-placed Pilton Academicals suffered a rare defeat this season – and their first at home since May – at the hands of Shebbear United on Saturday. James Vanstone scored two and Greg Mitchell scored one for the visitors while Aaron Richmond and Antony Higgs replied for Pilton.
Kevin Buck scored four goals as Park United came from behind to hammer Torrington reserves 6-1 at Sandymere. He was pipped to the man-of-the-match award by Ben Hayne, who scored two and set up two in a brilliant second-half performance.
Bratton Fleming made light work of Barnstaple AAC Reserves with a 7-1 whitewash. Bratton were 4-1 up at half-time thanks to goals by Liam Hawkins, Stuart Cameron and Marcus Mahoney. Liam Monsell scored the fifth with a stunning 20-yard strike and Hawkins rounded off his hat-trick with two second half strikes.
Woolsery beat North Molton Reserves 9-1 with goals by Tom Barton (3), Mischa Howe (2), Nick Glover (2) and Ashley Glover.
Braunton Reserves were 3-0 winners at home to Combe Martin Reserves thanks to Sam McCreadie, Sam Mitchell and Dale Darch. Chittlehampton were beaten 3-1 at home to Bude Town.
