After beating two of the teams challenging for top places, Fremington have reinforced their standing as firm favourites for the Intermediate One title.
They beat third-placed Ilfracombe 3rds 5-1 midweek and on Saturday overcame fifth placed Woolacombe and Mortehoe 4-2.
Dan Wright put Ilfracombe in front before Fremington came back to 3-1 at the break and then pulled away, with goals by Andy King (3), Wayne Parkhouse and Matt Powe.
Fremington started well at Woolacombe and went 2-0 up with a brace of goals by Andy King. A Woolacombe penalty by Stuart Haynes pegged one back , but Andy Sanders made it 3-1 at the break. Woolacombe came out strong in the second half and after a well-worked second goal by Haynes they kept Fremington under pressure until a Lee Chappell tap-in from a set piece ensured the win.
Merton maintained their challenge in second place, but had to come from behind to beat Putford Reserves 2-1. Stung by a Putford first half goal, they were back on terms within minutes through Nathan Delaune and took the points with a second by George Nancekivell eight minutes from the end.
Ilfracombe Town 3rds stay third with a 3-0 result away to AFC Anchor, although they had to wait for their win. After a goalless 70 minutes Steve Burns broke the deadlock. Sam Gater followed up with a second and 16-year-old Ryan Offield finished off.
Landkey are waiting on the edge of leading group following their 5-1 win at High Bickington. They led 2-0 at the break and secured the points with goals by Lee Kerswell (2), Eddie Harvey, James Jackson and a Mark Rippon volley.
Sporting Barum were involved in their second successive eight-goal thriller, this time running out 5-3 winners over Equalizers.
Equalizers went 2-0 ahead with goals by Matt Taylor and Phil Norman. But Scott Patten struck twice for Barum to draw level and they pushed 4-2 ahead with further goals by Mark Dorman and a third for Patten. Matthew Mitchell closed the gap again for Equalizers before Kyle Spear made the game safe for Barum.
Northam Lions Reserves went to Braunton 3rds with a weaken side because of work and holidays, but won 1-0 with a goal by Robbie Crump.
