Wet weather decimated the North Devon Gazette League programme at the weekend, with just four fixtures surviving across all four divisions.

In the Senior, Pilton Academicals extended their unbeaten run to six games with an 8-2 win at Combe Martin.

The Accies took just five minutes to find the net through Matt Hunt.

As the visitors pressed for more on a pitch that was already beginning to cut up, Alex Boreham made it 2-0 on 20 minutes before Dan Puffitt made it 3-0 from close range.

Matt Proctor beat the goalkeeper to the ball to loop a perfectly weighted header into an open net as Pilton scored a fourth before the break.

In the second half, Combe Martin got hold of the ball and began to play on a tricky surface. They were rewarded with a couple of goals of their own in between another four for Pilton, Greg Holland scoring two to take his season total to nine in the league, and singles by Paul Sullivan and a Luke Holland penalty.

In the other Senior match, Chittlehampton beat Putford 4-1.

Meanwhile, in Intermediate Two, a Tom Gleeson double was enough to separate Lions derby at Burrough Farm.

Carlos Chaudhari had opened the scoring for Northam before Gleeson found the net for Appledore, who have leapfrogged their opponents in the league table.

In the day’s other surviving match, Woolsery Reserves and Braunton Fourths shared the points in a 3-3 draw.
