SOME mouthwatering local derbies are in prospect in the Devon Women's Football League next season after the acceptance of Barnstaple Ladies back into the competition.Barnstaple have stepped down from the South Western League following retirement of some of their established players.They are now looking to recruit new players for the forthcoming campaign in the Devon League Premier Division and the prospect of local derbies against Bideford and Holsworthy.Georgeham and Croyde will be playing in Division 1 and Torridgeside in Division 2.Barnstaple are looking for players from 12-years-old upwards. Players must be 16 to take part in the league, but the club wants to attract as many youngsters as possible, to guarantee its future and also to form an under 16's team.Players awards for last season: manager's player, Robyn York; most improved player, Hannah Passmore; players' player Andrea Mules.Town continue to train throughout the summer, on Thursdays 6.30-8.30 at Chivenor. The girls turn up to have fun and enjoy the football, training is free and all are welcome. The Devon League kicks off on September 7.For further information call 0788275789.
