The two sides beat teams from the South West Peninsula League’s East Division to claim their spot in the last eight.

Simon Townsend was the hero for Braunton as they claimed a 1-0 victory over Exminster side St Martins in a cagey match at Lobb Field.

Townsend ran on to a looping ball inside the box and volleyed it into the back of the net late in the second half to give the Seasiders the advantage.

Two goals from Connor Nash ensured Fremington came away from their trip to Budleigh Salterton as 2-1 victors and with a place in the last eight.

Nash gave Fremington the lead from the penalty spot. After the hosts pulled themselves level minutes later, Nash responded with a superb free-kick from the edge of the penalty area to give them a lead they would keep throughout the second half.

Boca Seniors and North Molton both suffered defeat in their third round matches on Saturday.

Boca were beaten 2-1 at Plymouth and West side Mount Gould. Jake England got the goal for Boca, with Gran Craven and Bailey Mabin scoring for the hosts.

North Molton also lost by the odd goal, going down 3-2 to Devon and Exeter League side Cronies.

Jack Moses and Joe Southcott scored the goals for the Stags.

Torridgeside’s trip to East Allington United, Holsworthy’s match at Elmore and Barnstaple Town Reserves and Pilton’s trip to Bovey Tracey were all postponed on Saturday after heavy rain.

All three matches will be played this Saturday.
