Saturday’s final has been postponed after finalists Torridgeside Reserves were disqualified from the competition on Wednesday evening.

The North Devon Gazette Football League (NDGFL) Combe Martin Cup Final has been postponed.

Finalists Torridgeside Reserves were charged with fielding an ineligible player in their semi-final against Hartland.

League secretary Mick Tattersall confirmed that Torridgeside had accepted the charge, and will no longer play in the final against Braunton Reserves after being disqualified from the competition.

The final, which was scheduled to take place on Saturday at Hollands Park, will now be rescheduled.

The NDGFL League Management Committee will discuss arrangements for the fixture at a meeting this evening (Friday).

Competition rules state that players playing in a semi-final or final of a cup competition must have played three competitive matches for the club before the tie.

Torridgeside’s player had not played three matches before the semi-final on March 5, but has featured regularly for the club since.

The issue came to light on Tuesday, when Braunton contacted league officials to highlight their concern.
