Supporters and players past and present invited to celebrate 50 years of Shamwickshire Rovers

Shamwickshire Rovers is preparing to celebrate five decades in local football.

The East-the-Water club, established in 1965, is nearing the end of its 50th season in the North Devon Football League.

During that time, the club has won 21 trophies, including six premier division titles, the most recent in 2010.

Supporters and players past and present are invited to join the party at a family fun day at the Pollyfield Centre on Saturday, May 7.

First team manager Gary Ford said: “We would like to invite everyone down to Pollyfield to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Sham,

“If anyone has any old Sham photographs or memorabilia please get in touch as we would love to display them and it would be great to see the old versus the new.”

The club has planned a host of family entertainment, including face painting; a bouncy castle; prize raffle; fairground rides; food and refreshments; and a children’s penalty shoot-out competition.

The party will start at 1pm and will also feature the reserve team’s senior division derby against Northam Lions, which kicks off at 3pm.

The celebrations will carry on into the night with a race night from 7.30pm.

The club is also seeking sponsorships and donated raffle prizes from local businesses. If you can help, email
