BOTH of the North Devon Western League sides in action at the weekend suffered narrow 3-2 defeats. With Ilfracombe's game against Street postponed due to bad weather, it was left to Barnstaple and Bideford to try and bolster what - at the mid-point of the season - can only be described as average campaigns so far. After going in at the break 3-0 down at home to Radstock, Barnstaple were always going to face an uphill struggle to gain anything from their game against the Somerset side.Poor first-half defending gifted Radstock their goals after Town had dominated the first 20 minutes of the game and did everything but but score. A more determined Barum came out for the second half and pulled a goal back through Jake Barwick after 51 minutes. Kevin Squire scored a second with an hour of the match gone, but that was the end of the scoring as Town pushed forward but were unable to add anymore goals.Bideford's defeat to second-placed Corsham came after the Robin's battled hard to take the lead through Ellis Laight. Their consolation goal came from Leon Hapgood just minutes from time.
