There’s a new name on the Arlington Cup after Bridgerule came out of Saturday’s final to lift the trophy.
Bridgerule were 1-0 winners over Putford at Torrington's Vicarage Field.
A late free kick from man-of-the-match Rob Pearce was the difference between the two sides in blustery conditions.
Putford had started the match strongly, but Bridgerule had began applying more pressure by the half-time whistle, although the match remained goalless at the break.
It stayed that way through much of the second half too, before Bridgerule were awarded a free kick on the edge of the penalty area. Pearce curled a right-footed effort around the two-man wall and in at the near post to effectively win the match.
Bridgerule finish their Intermediate One season on Saturday with a trip to Holsworthy Reserves. A win would see them secure second place.
