Stourbridge 0-3 Bideford
Bideford saw off promotion rivals Stourbridge with a terrific second half display on Saturday.
The Robins consolidated their fourth position in the Calor League Southern Premier with an excellent 3-0 win, buoyed by the returns of Craig Duff and Matt Bye, with Owen Howe also fit enough to take a place on the bench for the trip to the West Midlands.
More than 500 spectators watched as Bideford made a solid start, but it wasn’t until the second half that the visitors really started to cause Stourbridge problems.
Matt Hockley put the Robins in front in the 52nd minute when he converted a penalty, setting the tone for their second half performance.
The lead was doubled in the 72nd minute, as the returning Duff showed his value to the side with a cool finish.
And the Robins weren’t finished there, as their pressure again told in the 79th minute when Kevin Squire scored to give them an unassailable three-goal advantage.
By holding on to the climax of the game without conceding, Bideford recorded a third consecutive clean sheet and a remarkable fifth in seven matches, helping them to open up a four point gap to fifth-placed St Albans City. The Robins are also just six points behind second-placed Chesham United.
In-form Bideford travel to ninth-placed Banbury United on Saturday, before hitting the road again next Wednesday to face Frome Town.
