Bideford were on the wrong end of a stoppage time winner on Saturday afternoon as they slumped to defeat in Evo-Stik Division One South this afternoon (Saturday).
The Robins were beaten 3-2 at Slimbridge, with Max Harper-Emerson’s 91st-minute goal completing a comeback for the home side.
Bideford had thrown away a 2-0 lead. Kevin Squire had got them in a good position to win back-to-back league games with goals in the 10th and 31st minutes.
But Slimbridge battled back, and reduced the deficit to one before half-time with a strike from William Hawes.
They equalised with 15 minutes remaining when Craig Allan turned the ball into his own net before Harper-Emerson claimed Slimbridge’s first win of the season in stoppage time.
The result leaves Bideford 15th in Division One South. They will be hoping to turn their fortunes around by making it into the first qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup on Tuesday.
If they beat Bristol Manor Farm in the preliminary round replay, they will travel to Toolstation Western League side Chipping Sodbury for the next round’s tie on Saturday.
