A late Sean Downing goal earned 10-men Bideford a 1-1 draw against Chippenham Town in their final Southern Premier League game of the season.

The Robins had skipper Richard Groves sent off in an otherwise uneventful first half at Hardenhuish Park.

The hosts made the extra man count 13 minutes after the break when Jack Odam fired past Steve Oliver.

But Bideford were able to prevent a sixth straight defeat when Downing headed the equaliser 12 minutes from time.

The draw meant Bideford finished the season in 15th on 55 points.

They can now look forward to Tuesday night's Edenvale Turf Devon St Luke's Cup final against Plymouth Argyle.

The match kicks off at the Devon FA headquarters in Coach Road, Newton Abbot, at 7.45pm.
