Robins kick off away to Chesham

Bideford will kick off their 2013-14 league season with a trip to Chesham United on Saturday August 17.

The Calor Southern League fixtures were announced today (Wednesday), and Bideford will need to be at their best to get a result against last season’s third-place finishers.

Bideford will be hoping to build on last season – their first in the Southern League Premier Division – after staying up on goal difference ahead of Bedworth United.

The Robins had made a promising start to life in the Premier Division before a poor run of form saw them dragged into the relegation battle at the back end of the season.

The fixtures have thrown up a tough start for Bideford, who face four games in nine days to kick off the season.

After the game at Chesham, they entertain AFC Totton three days later, and then host newly promoted Biggleswade Town the following Saturday. They then travel to Cornwall to face Truro City on Monday August 26.

The Cornish side’s reverse fixture at the Sports Ground is on Boxing Day.
