Bideford will welcome Devon’s two biggest clubs to the Sports Ground this July for pre-season friendly matches.

The Robins will welcome League Two play-off finalists Exeter City to the Sports Ground on Tuesday, July 10.

Plymouth Argyle will also be travelling to Bideford, with the Pilgrims expected to field their first team for a match on Wednesday, July 18.

When Bideford play Exeter they are likely to come up against a mixture of first team and U23 players.

City youngsters Max Smallcombe, Ben Seymour and Josh key all spent time at Bideford over the 2017/18 season. Seymour’s 24 goals helped the Robins to eighth place in Evo-Stik League South West, where they missed out on the play-offs by a single point.

Derek Adams is expected to field a full first team when the Argyle visit. Adams was the new Argyle manager when he brought them to Bideford three seasons ago. The Pilgrims were 3-1 winners that day.

It’s the second year in a row the Robins have welcomed a couple of EFL sides.

Grimsby Town came down to North Devon last season, beating the Robins 4-0. Five days later Neil Warnock brought a Cardiff City side to the Sports Ground, with Bideford winning 2-1.

Other teams confirmed for Bideford’s pre-season schedule so far include South West Peninsula League side St Martins, and Toolstation Western League sides Buckland Athletic and Willand Rovers.
