Robins will look to move away from the foot of the Evostik Southern League Premier Division table when they meet Slough on Saturday.

An Angus Wilson goal earned Bideford a much-needed point in a 1-1 with Leamington at the Sports Ground on Saturday – the Robins’ first match of 2016.

The hosts had been without a match since the Boxing Day defeat to Paulton Rovers.

Their lack of action has seen them slip to the foot of the Evostik Southern League Premier Division table, albeit with games in hand on the teams above them.

Bideford keeper Kyle Moore was called into action early on but it was Bideford who broke the deadlock, Wilson rolling the ball into an empty net on 15 minutes after Leamington keeper Tony Breeden swung at – and missed – a clearance up field.

The hosts were forced to make two substitutions following injuries to captain Richard Groves and central defender Dan Harrison before the 30 minute mark.

Five minutes later, Leamington equalised through Lee Chilton.

Both goalkeepers made excellent saves in the closing stages to deny either side all three points.

Tuesday night’s Bideford’s match against Weymouth at the Sports Ground was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Bideford will hope the pitch recovers in time to host Slough on Saturday.
