The ladies recovered from a defeat last week to beat Tavistock 3-1 in the Devon Women’s Premier

Bideford Ladies got back to winning ways in the Devon Women's Premier League with a 3-1 win over Tavistock.

An action-packed second half saw Sarah Short, Meg Stone and Beau Dennis score for Bideford.

The result secures them second place in the league going into the new year.

Bideford started the game in the ascendancy and had chances to take the lead.

Great goalkeeping kept them from going ahead and the match remained goalless going into the second half.

Short broke the deadlock 10 minutes after the restart, ghosting past a few opposition players before firing a low shot into the far corner.

Tavvy's reply was almost immediate. Full-back Donna Home put in a cross that bypassed everyone and landed in the goal.

Lou Pontin produced a string of fine saves in goal to keep the scores level before Stone got on the end of a Rohanna Little cross to give the Robins the lead.

They sealed victory with five minutes remaining when Dennis converted from the penalty spot after Lucy Clements was upended.

Bideford's next game is against away at Buckland Athletic Reserves on January 8.
