A couple of familiar faces were on the Grecians scoresheet, with Ben Seymour and Josh Key getting the goals as the U23s ran out 3-1 winners. James Mayne scored the goal for a Bideford side which featured some new faces, including Barnstaple Town captain Niall Heeney. Seymour Bidefords top scorer last season opened the scoring for Exeter 10 minutes before half-time with a well-taken penalty. The young striker had been brought down by Felix Norman, who was standing in goal for Bideford in place of Steve Oliver for the first hour, as he scampered through on goal. It didnt take long for Bideford to equalise. Two minutes after going behind Mayne got his head to a Liam Gregory corner at the back of the six yard box, with his effort going past James Hamon in the Exeter goal and over the line. Kevin Squire, Ben Wood and Sam Gwynne were the first substitutes on for the Robins after the break. Squire fired off target after latching on to a loose ball, and after Norman was able to play in goal for his own side he got his fingertips to a powerful shot from Sean Downing. Key gave Exeter the lead with 12 minutes to go, slotting a low effort past Steve Oliver and into the bottom corner. Squire and Downing combined to force another stop from Norman almost immediately after. Key got his second and Exeters third with two minutes of the 90 remaining with a back-heel. Bidefords pre-season schedule continues on Saturday with a trip to South West Peninsula League side St Martins. Bideford: Norman, Hancox, Sampson, Downing, Harrison, Mayne, Bye, Heeney, Turner, Western, Gregory. Subs: Wood, Oliver, Squire, Barker, Gwynne.
