Barum beat visiting Winchester City 3-1 at Mill Road, battling back after Oli Bailey gave the visitors the lead after 15 minutes. Langford hauled Barnstaple level with his first before Harry Stevens rejoining the side for his first appearance of the season gave the hosts the lead after 25 minutes. The Barnstaple striker got his second and Barnstaples third midway through the second half with a thumping finish before Tyrell Mitford pulled one back in the 90th minute to set up a nervy finish. The result makes it back to backs wins for Barnstaple, who are now off the foot of the Division One South table. The last time they strung together two wins on the spin was back in April 2017, when a 3-1 win over Slimbridge followed a 3-0 win at Winchester. Barnstaple started brightly on a gloomy afternoon at Mill Road, but found themselves a goal down after 15 minutes. Ollie Griggs got in behind the Barnstaple defence and squared a ball across goal where Bailey was able to finish at the far post. The visitors almost doubled their lead five minutes later but for a good stop from Rob Holmes from Baileys header, and instead within seconds the game was level again. Ross Middletons lofted ball in behind the Winchester back line was met by Langford, who managed to fire past keeper Ryan Pryce from a tight angle at the second time of asking. Barum completed the mini-comeback five minutes later thanks in part to a bit of good fortune. A loose touch from Josh Harfield gave Stevens enough of an opportunity to race for the ball. His effort took a deflection off the recovering defender, eluding Pryce and bouncing into the net. Barnstaple ended the half strongly, pressing well and barely letting Winchester play out of their half. The visitors had a chance before half-time but were denied by the woodwork and some dogged defending from Mike Humphries and Holmes. The visitors started the second half well, with Bailey producing a cross that Mitford was inches away from getting on the end of. Langford eventually dealt the decisive blow midway through the second half. At the end of a mazy run to the edge of the Winchester penalty area, Archie Reay slipped in Langford who thumped the ball into the back of the net. Mitford pulled one back in the 90th minute with a low finish past Holmes. The goal set up a nervy five minutes of stoppage time, but the hosts hung on to seal their first win at Mill Road since February.Barnstaple Town: Holmes, Humphries, Reed, Dart, Gardner, Middleton (Savigar 85), Reay, Mitchell (Jones 80), Nancekivell, Langford, Stevens (Holland 75).
