Club chairman reveals plans for improvements at Mill Road after being awarded a ‘long awaited’ grant
Barnstaple Town are set to make improvements to their ground at Mill Road after being awarded an FA grant.
Club chairman Jasmine Chesters said improvements to the stadium had been ‘long awaited’.
The grant will allow the club to replace grass terraces with tarmac, replace the dug outs and erect a new stand to replace the old one.
There will also be upgrades to the flood lights, as well as the club kitchen.
The club has been able to match fund the grant thanks to Keith Jones, a special follower of Barnstaple Town who left the money to the club when he passed away.
In a statement, Mrs Chesters said the club were ‘deeply indebted’ to Mr Jones.
She added: “Small clubs like ours depend on their volunteers and we are no exception.
“The team are now playing at the highest level they have ever played at and I hope that Barnstaple and the area are proud of them.
“They are nearly all local boys and they have worked hard to get where they are today, they deserve your support.”
