Its often known as the businesses end of the season and Barnstaple Town will need to roll up their sleeves and knuckle down to get their Southern League promotion hopes back on track.A 4-2 defeat at Cadbury Heath in the Toolstation Western League Premier Divison on Saturday was Barnstaples third league defeat in four games and followed a week after a disappointing 4-1 defeat at home to Melksham Town. They were looking to bounce back against a Heath side that had lost five of its last six games. But things started badly for Town, who went in 3-0 down at the half-time break. The hosts made it 4-0 in the second half but Barnstaple finally began to find their rhythm in the last half-an-hour of the match. Substitute Will Nicholls joined Ryan Turner and Dave Pearse in a three-pronged front-line and soon pulled one back through Ross Jones. Lee Francis then added a second to make it 4-2 and there could have been a third Turner came close but the referee said the ball hadnt crossed the line. Following the defeat, the club said it was looking to right the wrongs. Barnstaple are 12 points adrift of leaders Bristol Manor Farm, who were without a game at the weekend. But Barry Yeos side has plenty of games in hand on all the top half clubs, and can help make up the difference with games against Bitton and Street this week.
