Barum will have a chance to bounce back from defeat with home match this evening (Tuesday)

Barnstaple Town suffered their fifth defeat of the Evo-Stik League South West season on Saturday.

Barum were beaten 2-0 at Evesham United, with both the goals coming from Matt Liddiard.

The midfielder struck twice in quick succession in the final 20 minutes to send Richard Pears' side back from Worcestershire without any points.

Barum's defence had held firm throughout the first half and well into the second before the deadlock was broken.

Liddiard found the net from Bradley Gray set pieces in the 70th and 73rd minutes.

First he headed in from a corner, then nodded in from a free-kick to double the lead.

Barnstaple, now fourth from bottom in 19th, will be hoping to bounce back tonight (Tuesday), as they welcome Paulton Rovers to Mill Road.

Rovers are a place above Barum in the League South West standings and have yet to take a win away from home.

This weekend will see Barnstaple play their first home Saturday fixture of the season in the League South West, with Winchester City the visitors.

Then on Tuesday, attentions turn to the Challenge Cup, when Barnstaple host Premier side Tiverton Town.
