The two North Devon sides were both in action over the weekend.

Barnstaple Town and Bideford both earned wins as their pre-season schedule continues.

Bideford hosted a young Exeter City XI on Friday evening, keeping their unbeaten pre-season going with a 2-1 win.

Sean Downing opened the scoring before half time with a header.

Downing was one of four players to make way at the break, with Kevin Squire starting up front in the second half.

Squire found the net with a volley to make it 2-0, before Exeter pulled one back.

Barnstaple were in action on Saturday with Willand Rovers visiting Mill Road.

New addition James Blake was in action against his former club, scoring two goals in a 4-1 win.

Blake scored twice in as many minutes just before the half-hour mark to give Barry Yeo's side the lead.

The striker made way for Dave Pearse at half-time, who got two goals of his own.

Willand scored shortly after the restart before Pearse found the net after 54 minutes.

Half an hour later Pearse found the net again for his second.

The pre-season continues this evening, with both teams travelling for fixtures.

Barnstaple travel to Cullompton Rangers while Bideford play Buckland Athletic.

Bideford have also added an extra fixture to their pre-season schedule.

They will play Tavistock at the Sports Ground on Monday August 1, with kick off at 7.30pm.
