Keynsham Town 1-3 Barnstaple Town

Barnstaple Town kicked off 2015 in style by extending their lead at the top of the Toolstation Western League first division to four points.

A 3-1 win at Keynsham Town on Saturday was the latest in a long line of impressive displays from Barry Yeo’s men, who look in good shape for the title at the turn of the year.

Barnstaple stunned the hosts with a quick start, racing into a 2-0 lead inside of 15 minutes.

Jack Jenkins applied the finishing touch to a Jed Harper-Penman corner to put the visitors in front, before Aaron Harper-Penman added a second.

Keynsham did manage to pull one back before the break, but Barnstaple never looked anything other than in control.

Substitute Will Nicholls rounded off the victory in the second half with a fine finish to secure all three points.

Barnstaple are now four points clear of second-placed Cribbs, who visit Mill Road this Saturday. A win could see Barnstaple open a seven-point gap with a game in hand.
