Barnstaple Town got their pre-season preparations off to the perfect start with a win over Tavistock at Mill Road on Saturday. Town went a goal down in the first half but came back strong to claim victory over their South West Peninsula Premier league opponents. Barum boss Tom Bulley had a squad of 22 men to choose from, including new boy Maksym Kowal, over from Canada on a trial basis, who found the net to equalise for the home side. Another new signing, former North Molton man Tom Marsh was also on target as Barnstaple completed the comeback. The signs were good coming away from the game, said Bulley. Its a new team and they gelled together quite well, but theres still a lot of work to do. Pre-seasons more about the match fitness but its a good positive start and gives us something to build on. Towns second game of pre-season is tonight against Fremington.
