BARNSTAPLE Colts won 8-5 in a Merit Table game at Exmouth.Two well-matched sides reached half time without scoring a point between them.Six minutes into the second half Barnstaple hesitated, anticipating a whistle that never came, and Exmouth kicked through to score.Barnstaple responded positively.From a line-out, they moved the ball out to fly-half Half Tristan Lincoln-Gordon, who crossed for the equaliser.The match ebbed and flowed with both teams playing positive, attacking rugby.Twelve minutes from time Exmouth gave away a penalty that scrum-half Ciaron Lishman stroked between the posts to give Barnstaple the lead.Exmouth did not give up and camped on Barum's five-metre line late in the game.Barnstaple's defence was disciplined with flanker Winston James making a vital turn-over, which Lincoln-Gordon kicked down the line to send Exmouth back to square one.Both teams played with commitment, passion and pride.
