Lily Nichols has achieved European success for Great Britain at the Surf Life Saving European Championships 2015.

The best athletes from 16 countries amassed in Wales to compete at the gruelling sport of surf life saving.

Lily, of Woolacombe SLS club, put in an outstanding performance and battled fiercely in the open water sea swim against the best. She was vying for first throughout, eventually settling for silver behind a German competitor.

Victory then came for the Team Taplin relay team, with GB members Mesha Wardman, Tarryn Brown and Mali James joining Lily to take the gold.

Lily also finalled in all her pool races and her relay team achieved a British record.

Lily will be one of six volunteers, along with clubmate Summer Whiteley, to travel to South Africa in December to teach and educate local children in beach safety and swimming.

The trip is being organised by a local company Beach Smart.
