19-year-old Lewie Parker of Westward Ho! Tennis Club was the only player from North Devon to be selected to represent the Devon Men’s team in the recent County Cup competition at Taunton.

It was the first time Lewie has been selected for the adult team after representing the county at every junior age group in the past.

Devon lost their first two matches against Durham and Cleveland, and Cambridgeshire by the narrowest of margins (5-4) and had to secure a win against Wiltshire to avoid relegation.

This was achieved, and with a young squad of players the future looks bright for Devon.

Lewie, who works at Davison’s Chartered Accountants, also trains at Tarka Tennis Centre under the guidance of coach Chris Gill.
