NEWS from the Kelsey Ground is that Jon Baglow has been selected as Braunton Cricket Club's 1st team captain for the coming campaign.Baggy, who opened the bowling last season, is a left-arm pace bowler and right hand batsman. He took 25 wickets at 17.6 last season, for which he was awarded Bowler of the Year. He also contributed some handy lower order displays with the bat. Club deputy chairman Paul Mitcham, who suggested Baggy as a natural successor to Mark Lathwell- who continues to play for the Kelseymen - has also intimated that the club is in final negotiations to secure a quality overseas talent for the forthcoming season. Braunton field two Devon League teams on a Saturday and two North Devon league teams on a Sunday. The club has already started training for the new season and welcomes current and new players to attend the sessions. Anyone interested should go to Park School on Sunday's throughout February and March from 4pm to 6pm.
