YOUNG North Devon archer Jay Oakley completed an amazing 2007 competition year with a a final flourish. Competing at the 36th Indoor Junior National Archery Championships at the National Sports Centre at Lilleshall, he achieved second place against the best in the country.Following this event Jay collected three achievement awards.The Junior Master Bowman Award - three scores over three events of 144 arrows each event. The Grand National Archery Association Black Arrow award - the highest achievement in his age group, four scores over four events of 144 arrows each. The Grand National Archery Association Gold Rose Award - again the highest achievement in his age group for a 1,200 score for one 144 arrow contest.Kenwith Company of Archers have also recognised Jay's hard work and amazing achievements by voting him the club's Archer of the Year 2007.Jay has now started the 2008 year determined to retain his titles, with continued training at county squad level and hoping to make the Devon & Cornwall County squad for 2008 after his first competitive year.
