A COMMON smoothound of 8lb 8 ozs gave Andy Joslin of Barnstaple Rod 'n' Reelers a double placing in the weekend's sea angling competitions.The club's roving contest saw his hound take second place behind a 4lb 5oz thin-lipped mullet of 133.7% caught by Julian Stainer. Third went to Steve Baker with a good shore pollack of 4lb 1/2 oz and 80.7%.At the North Devon League weigh in an hour later and with the smoothound specimen a pound less at 9lb, Andy's fish swam straight into first place.Rob Pearson of Combe Martin was second with a dogfish of 2lb 9 3/4 oz and third went to Andrew Atkinson of Appledore with a thin-lipped mullet of 2lb 15 1/4 oz.The next North Devon League is on Saturday, August 30, with the weigh in at Bideford SAC on Sunday.
