HATHERLEIGH took the best of a draw from the top-of-the-table clash with Dartington & Totnes.

It is tighter than ever at the top of the county C Division with just nine points between leaders Thorverton, second-placed Clyst Hydon and third-in-the-table Hatherleigh.

Hatherleigh's batting was solid rather than spectacular with Hugh Romans (44) having the best of a modest set of scores in a total of 162 all out.

Darts had 36 overs to knock off the runs in a rain affected game and were 70 without loss after eight of them with Jono Lloyd (29) and Kalon Veale (42) drilling the bowling.

It couldn't last and Simon Gillespie (5-40) made sure it didn't.

Wickets tumbled until a seventh-wicket stand of 32 between Bransdon (13) and Baxendale (18) got D&T up towards their total of 145 for eight.
