YOUNGSTERS from the North Devon Display Gymnastics Club brought a big haul of medals back from the Devon Novice Floor and Vault Championships in Exeter.Grace Woolway and Lauren East gained top scores on each piece of apparatus and took the overall titles in the Under 13 and Under 15 age groups respectively. Stephanie Green was just pipped by Lauren and took the silver medal, while clubmates Kathryn Parkyn and Millie Taylor-Richards were placed fourth and seventh.Kate Edwards moved to Under 13s this season and stepped up well to earn fourth place.In the Over-15 girls, Coral Southam battled hard on her vault following a mistake on floor to win the overall bronze medal.Shauna Davies executed a beautiful floor routine to win the silver medal in the Under-11 girls and Jessica Bailey gained sixth place.Sophie Johns performed in her first ever club competition and achieved the silver medal in the Under 9 event. Another debutant, Brooke Timmins, managed to successfully spring over the big table vault to claim fifth place.Edgehill College student, Scott Heimann, came fourth at the Devon boys' trials for the Inter-Counties 2 piece event next week and gained a place in the county Under-12 team.www.northdevon.gov.uk
