Golf club’s 150th anniversary celebrations continue with dinner at the club

A MIXED anniversary dinner is the latest event to have taken place at Royal North Devon Golf Club as members continues to celebrate its 150th anniversary.

England’s oldest golf club welcomed professor David Purdie as the speaker at last week’s dinner, who since retiring as from a distinguished medical and academic career has devoted his time to writing, broadcasting and public speaking.

Purdie, who has advised major sports and entertainment personalities including former Ryder Cup captain Sam Torrence, entertained dozens of guests at the clubhouse last Saturday, before a draw-for-partners American foursomes competition on Sunday, won by Jan Hurst and Graham Clark.
