DUE to all the recent rain, courses are soft and the ball doesn't run along the ground as well. Yet I still see many golfers trying to chip and run the ball on to the green. The ball gets stuck in the longer, damper grass and poor results occur. When chipping in these conditions you need to try to fly the ball on to or as near to the green as you can, so that the longer, rougher grass won't effect the shot. Try using your lob or sand wedge for this style of shot.Happy golfingMike WilsonProfessionalRoyal North Devon Golf Club(01237) 477598
