I GIVE a lot of chipping lessons at Royal North Devon and I would say 85% of people make one common mistake when chipping. What happens is most people try to lift the ball up into the air by scooping at it with their hands. This causes them to hit the ball either very FAT or THIN. To achieve a consistent chipping action you must make sure you hit down on the ball leading the club through with your hands. This will help you catch the ball just right and the loft of the club will pop the ball up into the air.Happy golfing.Mike WilsonProfessionalRoyal North Devon Golf Club(01237) 477598
