CALLING boxers young and old - a knockout night is in prospect as Bideford Amateur Boxing Club celebrates its 50th anniversary.On Friday night the club will be holding its anniversary celebrations at Bideford Conservative Club, combined with its annual awards presentation night.All ex-boxers, trainers and officials connected with the club are invited back to meet up with the present team, chat about boxing and "battles long ago."The evening starts at 7pm.The Bideford club is also proud to announce that its treasurer and club development manager Jeff Facey has been appointed by popular vote as president of Devon ABA.Jeff has been instrumental in extensive fund raising for the Bideford club, which has a new championship size boxing ring as its latest acquisition.At the Devon ABA meeting Bideford boxer Matt Van Emmenis was also named as joint winner with two others of the Kurt Ernst Trophy for the best novice junior in the county.
