CREWS from across the region rose above the weather and enjoyed the second annual regatta hosted by Ilfracombe Pilot Gig Club.

There was a home win for the Men's B crew in the Ilfracombe gig Rapparee and the local club notched up three second places and two fourths to give them second place overall on the day, just behind winners Weymouth.

Torridge Ladies Veterans crew also chalked up a win on the the aptly-named Will To Win, ahead of Weymouth's Tristan. The Torridge Ladies B team also triumphed aboard the second boat Kerrens, taking third place.

The Torridge veterans also competed in the Ladies B race and took another first place, while their B crew came fourth.

The club also delivered the strongest local Ladies A performance of the day finishing second behind overall regatta winners Weymouth.

With the weather closing in towards the end of the days the final Super Veterans and Mixed races had to be cancelled.
