BIDEFORD will host a Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile this spring as the charity event launches across the UK. In 2006 a staggering 400,000 men, women and children - including Prince William - did a Mile for Sport Relief nationwide and helped raise money for vulnerable people living tough lives in the UK and in the world's poorest countries. This time runners can choose to do one, three or six miles.Liz Warner is again organising the Bideford event on behalf of Bideford Amateur Athletic Club. She said: "We're delighted that Bideford is again hosting this exciting event. It was a huge success in 2006 and we hope to make this year's event bigger and better. We have an aerobic warm up, celebrity opening, local radio coverage, entertainment and even a four- legged participant, sponsored by The Big Sheep. We're expecting as many as 300 participants, getting sponsored and raising money for Sport Relief. "We are encouraging people to also take part in groups, perhaps in fancy dress, in uniform, three- legged. In fact, any way they choose!"Bideford's event will take place on Sunday, March 16, and places are limited, so people are encouraged to sign up for The Bideford Mile as early as they can.
