FIVE young members of the Braunton Rifle Target Club attended an international match at Oldenburg as part of a 25 strong GB juniors team.

They shot against teams from Sweden, South Africa and Germany.

All five shot air rifle, with Craig Attwood making the final and holding fifth position with a score of 574 out of 600. Luke Smith came 12th with 562, Dean Bale 23rd with 528 and Jack Bale 26th with 518. They took the team bronze medal.

Kirstie-Anne Attwood missed her final by one place, gaining ninth place with 370 out of 400. Her girls' team gained a silver.

Both Luke and Craig also took part in a 3x40 shots three positional event. Craig made the final with a personal best of 1,108 to take fourth place and Luke was 12th, also with a personal best of 1019. Craig gained a silver medal in the team event.

Kirstie-Anne also gained a team silver in the girls 3x20 shots three positions event and came fourth in the individual final with a personal best score of 547.

Jack came 12th in the 60-shot air rifle Grand Prix with a score of 525 and Dean was 14th with 514.

Craig and Luke also shot the male prone event, in which both achieved personal best scores. Craig came first overall with a score of 591 and also gained a team gold medal.

Kirstie-Anne came second in the corresponding ladies' event.

There will be a return match in August and the young Braunton shots would welcome any support/sponsorship people would like to give as competing at this level costs money as well as dedication.
