Filleigh didn’t miss skipper Simon Prideaux that much in their 58-run win over Tavistock

Rob Collier took the helm for the day as Prideaux was in the local maternity unit to welcome a new son into the world.

Filleigh rattled along to 224 for seven in their 45 overs, Harley Ashdown top scoring on 53.

Openers Justin Saker (46) and Jas Kalsi (4) put on 51 then Rob Collier (29) and Ashdown added 52 for the third wicket.

The big stand was one of 69 between Ashdown and Mark Prideaux (32no).

Tavistock’s bowlers were mostly economical without taking piles of wickets, the exception being Domini Snyman (1-69 off 9).

Tavistock were all out for 166 with more than seven overs to go. They fell away in the middle overs after Will Barriball (26) and Snyman (42) got them to 71 for two.

Filleigh bowler Ryan Bowden’s nine-over spell for just five runs conceded put pressure on the Tavvy batters.

Sean Cleve went in at 109 or seven with the game almost lost and made a solid 40 which took Tavistock to two batting bonus points.
