Filleigh, after losing their first two games, pitched up in East Devon on a run of three without defeat and two outright wins.

Whimple batted first and struck an imposing 301-5, their biggest total this term to date.

They were led there by Ben Silk with an imperious century. Silk made 102 and the supporting acts came from Trevor Griffin (64) and Chris Palfrey (50).

Gary Henry bagged a brace for Filleigh, who were bowled out six runs shy of a fifth batting point on 194.

James Marsh (43) and Simon Prideaux (42) were the biggest individual scorers for the North Devon side.

Palfrey completed a fine all-round effort for the hosts, taking a three-wicket haul.
