THE Williams family left the others in their wake at the North Devon Yacht Club's 2008 Open Week at Instow.Nick and Sera Williams stormed clear of the fleet in the Fast Cats and their children George and Emily won the Handicap 2 series. The open week series suffered extreme weather and had to be extended to the Saturday, with only three races held. The fleet took to the water in conditions of force 5-6 gusting to storm force 7 at times. The Sprint 15 series had the most competitors racing and the results were close, with Annette Maddison fending off Mike Rainer to take the title. Cruisers: 1st Brian & Linda Cooke; 2nd Chris & Brian Fulford; 3rd Bob Randles & Cat Merlin. Gaffers: 1st Richard & Hillary Newing; 2nd Richard & Micheal Peek; 3rd Chris Evans. Handicap 2: 1st George and Emily Williams; 2nd James Talbot & Tim Yeo; 3rd, Emma & Michael Smith. Handicap 1: 1st Tim Blackmore & David Grant; 2nd Hugh & Paula Kingdom; 3rd Colin Steinlechner.
