Northam professional pool player Josh Durant has won the South West’s biggest tournament in the sport.

Durrant won the Devon and Cornwall Top Cue title, beating some top players along the way.

He defeated multiple world champion Jason Twist 8-4 in the last 16, before coming from behind to beat Exeter’s Mike King 8-7 in the quarter-finals.

In the semi-finals, Josh comfortably beat Cornwall’s Ryan Cleaves, who currently tops the regional rankings, by eight racks to three.

The final saw Durrant face up against Devon A’s long-serving captain Paul Balston, with a mini-bus of supporters behind him.

Durant handled the match well to take the biggest win of his career 8-2.

The invite-only tournament put the top eight players from Devon and Cornwall up against each other, with a £250 entry fee.

Josh also reached the quarter-finals of the latest IPA tour event in Brighton this week, losing to French number one Christophe Lambert.
