THIRD-placed Ipplepen 2nd XI were surprisingly defeated at Barnstaple & Pilton in the C Division.

The Pens posted a healthy enough 254-4, only to see Barum better that and have four wickets.

Roger Doxatt-Pratt (89) and Simon Tapley (53) were the top scores for the visitors. Rob Pedlar claimed 3-83 for the hosts.

Matt Down hit Barum's top score in the successful run chase with 53 and there were useful contributions from Danny Donovan (42) and unbeaten knocks from former North Devon captain Frank Biederman (44no) and Faqir Iqbal (38no).

l BRAUNTON were the latest team to fall by the wayside when they ran into B Division 2nd XI leaders Chudleigh.

Batting first, Chudleigh were led to a total of 226-9 by Rob Clarke (53). Mark Johnson took 3-33 for the hosts who were then bowled out for just 131 with Ben Ripley producing figures of 4-3 from four overs!

Harry Booker (39) and Dave Cresswell (18) were the only home batsmen to make an impression as Chudleigh won for the seventh time in nine starts.

l BIDEFORD 2nd XI were 122-run losers to Heathcoat in the clash between the two sides second and third behind leaders Chudleigh.

Sam Lockwood (61), Mike Blackmore (53) and Steve Harding (31), were the principle run scorers for the Knightshayes side whilst Darren Hart took 2-46 for the home side.

Hart top scored with 55 for Bideford but it was Harding who stole the show with 6-61 to leave Bideford all out for 165.
